Project: Developing the Just Make Scholars Program with a focus on cultivating the holistic development of young men from the local community through academics and the sport of basketball.


Joseph Malik Suba Turner is a prominent community stakeholder in Harlem, known for his continuous dedication to mentoring youth and contributing to the local community. Turner annually organizes a Basketball Classic during the summer, providing scholar-athletes and community members from urban areas with a positive and secure summer activity. His mission is centered on fostering prosperity, inspiration, innovation, originality, encouragement, and leadership among every scholar, beginning with local youth from the immediate community.

Turner is committed to establishing safe and nurturing environments where young creative minds can flourish and succeed in all their current and future pursuits. He envisions a future where all scholars are well-prepared for both college and careers, aiming to break the cycle of generational poverty and instead cultivate generational wealth. while supporting every scholar within the community.

As a Bundles Scholar, Turner aims to instill values of discipline, teamwork, resilience, and leadership, both on and off the court for local community youth through the continuous development of his nonprofit organization's mission of empowering scholar-athletes to excel across all academically, athletically, and personally, preparing them for success in both middle and high school, college and life beyond basketball.
