Project: Harlem has long served as a beacon of possibility for Black individuals and entrepreneurs. This project involves research into the history of financial institutions serving the Harlem community to conduct an analysis of the current landscape of financial services, and develop solutions to address any gaps for both the general public and small business owners with the goal of developing culturally informed, community-based resources to increase financial literacy and promote economic advancement within the Harlem community.

Miles Edwards is a licensed CPA based in Harlem who works with artists, non-profits, small-businesses, and expats to clarify complex tax-related issues. When not untangling tax rules or cleaning up clients’ books, he spends a lot of his time at the New York Public Library, on the tennis court, or practicing calligraphy.
